It is amazing to me that each one of us our made of molecules that came from the universe. Each piece of every single one of is related to the origin of the universe. If that doesn’t give you a sense of purpose or belonging I don’t know what will. This fact gives me satisfaction that I was built from something so significant and that I will continue to have this part of me forever. It gives me a sense of belonging on this Earth. The same molecules that make up the entire universe and everything inside of it, are the same inside of me. It gives me a connection to the universe not just the things in front of me. From the last video I was feeling small and insignificant but this episode made me feel the opposite.

The idea of artificial selection is another concept that is intriguing. The way humans have selected which crabs should live and which crabs should die ultimately produced a whole species of one kind of crab. This is similar for other animals and plants. Humans have the effect to destroy whole species or help a species prosper. This made me think about the people who lived before laws and technology that also were a part of selection. The strongest and healthiest people survived in the old days and we are essentially part of that.

The actual understanding of the universe is very small. Since Earth wasn’t created until the very end of the cosmic calendar, which lasts billions of years. We can only understand things that occurred when we were alive and things we have proof of. When the Earth was created the first living organisms were single molecules eventually building more complexity until humans DNA was formed. The nucleotides that make up this DNA are in part from the universe. This is just another connection between us humans and the big bang theory. Without the big bang theory human life and the creation of our universe may have never happened. There are so many different outcomes that could have happened from the big bang and somehow we were made. This is interesting to me as it feels as if everything always falls into place and happens for a reason.

Watching this episode makes it clear that astronomy is related to almost every other kind of science. Not only do the stars relate to the stars, they have chemistry. The Earth has biology that came from the universe. The study of Earth is almost the same as the study of the universe considering we came from that. The time that organisms began to appear on Earth is extremely long. It started with small organisms like plants and insects. Reptiles and amphibeans appeared. Eventually dinosaurs were created and not long after were destroyed. The first true humans took their place on the very last day of the cosmic calendar. This puts the cosmic calendar into a viewpoint. We know humans didn’t appear one random day, it took hundreds of years to evolve into the humans we are today.

Stay tuned for next weeks episode exploring the harmony of the world. I am anticipating to learn about how everything in the universe and world work together to grow and gain knowledge. See you guys next week!
